Recoleta Cemetery.

By Jarrad Turpin

This silent city of the dead is where many of Argentina’s most influential figures come to rest.

As morbid as it sounds, I think this is a must see for anyone visiting Buenos Aires. It’s easy to get lost walking in this huge cemetery, a city within a city with its main tree lined walkways and side alleys. Said to be the most expensive real estate in Buenos Aires, it is the final resting place for some of Argentina’s most important people including Evita and former presidents of the country. It’s amazing to see how the other half spend eternity. I always get lost in the beauty of this place and marvel at the grandness of some of the Art Deco and Art Nouveau mausoleums and statues.
