Nakameguro is a trendy suburb close to Shibuya centred on a large canal lined by cherry trees. During the spring blossom festival it’s a riot of thousands of Japanese strolling the banks while drinking sparkling wine and snacking on local food. On the other side of the station, away from the canal, the restaurant Higashi Yama sits on a quiet residential street. Choose from either à la carte or the set menu of seasonal Japanese specialties. It has an excellent list of Japanese and international wines as well as a good selection of sakes. In the high stakes world of expensive Japanese restaurants, this restaurant offers amazing value for the high quality food and atmosphere it provides.
