When visiting LA, it can be easy to neglect the downtown area unless going to the essential basketball game at the Staples Centre if not to frequent the über trendy Ace Hotel. The city’s notorious urban smog however does little to dim the sparkle of rooftop bar and restaurant, Perch.

It would be easy to think that you’d landed in New York instead when stepping into this bustling, open-air scene. While the lower terrace is occupied by a French-inspired restaurant, the bar on the building’s very top level easily steals the show. Most end up here prior to their dinner reservation and it’s the perfect place to take in the surrounding urban skyscape — something of an anomaly in L.A. In any case, it’s a charming little spot to have a few drinks at an address that show’s off a more sophisticated side of the angelic metropolis.
