Forget the other tourists and make your way to pristine beaches on the East Side.

Waikiki Beach is nice, but it’s got nothing on the East Side. Rent a car and make your way to the coast – the drive alone is spectacular. Waimanalo, Makapu’u and Sandy’s are my go-to spots, though swimming at Sandy’s is not recommended. If it’s the perfect beach you’re after, head to Waimanalo. It’s worth the drive, especially if you stop at one of the roadside stalls for a fresh coconut drink.
