Located in the whimsical French town of Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, not too far from Bordeaux, is an institution by the name of Le Petit Leon, which pops up each year exclusively during the summer months. The romantic outdoor restaurant is now helmed by a young yet prolific chef, Nick Honeyman, whose latest claim to fame is the celebrated Auckland restaurand, Paris Butter.

Honeyman has a an impressive CV. Having worked at Arpège and Astrance in Paris (both with three Michelin stars attached to their names) and Woodcock Sydney before becoming the Executive Chef of Sofitel Auckland, Le Petit Leon can rightfully be considered his labour of love. On any given visit, you’ll be meet with a smorgasbord of traditional French dishes given a sophisticated twist. A celebration of the high quality produce that France has long been lauded for, you can’t afford to miss out on a visit to this antipodean-run restaurant if you’re visiting the Bordeaux region from late May through August.
